Last month, June 27-29, Totally Green Bottles and Caps (TGBC) compostable water bottles were a hit at the Green Sports Alliance Summit held at the Leed Platinum Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, CA, home of the Sacramento Kings NBA Basketball team. The Summit brought together sports leaders from 15 leagues and14 countries. This is the seventh annual summit dedicated to leverage the $485 billion sports industry to tackle energy, waste, water, food, transportation, and other sustainability issues in sports. Totally Green Bottles and Caps began pioneering and producing compostable bottles in 2003. We are now working hand-in-hand with our engineering partner, UrthPact llc, a world-wide leader in bioplastic manufacturing, to bring the first ever 100% compostable water bottle, cap, and label to market.
UrthPact was a sponsor of the Summit and showcased our Green Bottle Spring Water bioplastic prototype at the vendor conference Booth #42. Our mission of participating in the summit was to reach out to companies and organizations who wish to enter the “winning arena” of compostable plastics. Plastics (bioplastics) that have the sole purpose of returning to the soil rather than littering the Earth forever.
It was exciting to hear that Summit Keynote speaker, Bill Walton, and Liza Milagro, Senior Sustainability Leader at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), stopped byour booth and were enthusiastic about our bottles. Scott Sweeney, UrthPact VP of Marketing, shares some key take aways and recaps the Green Sports Alliance Summit for us in the latest UrthPact/News blog article.
